Welcome to the Nelson Tavern, Christchurch

The Nelson Tavern has recently undergone a major refurbishment. We are a family and dog friendly gastro-pub that specialises in traditional home cooked fayre accompanied by a wide range of quality real ales all served in an upmarket and warm atmosphere. 

Our ales are that good that we have recently been Cask Marque accredited and we are also very proud to have been awarded a 5 star hygiene rating for both the kitchen and the cellar.

We offer a huge range of fine wines and branded sprits that you can enjoy in our bar whilst taking in some of the great live music that is on offer - we love live music here at the Nelson, if you are a local band or acoustic player drop your details in to the pub and let’s see if you can entertain our locals!

For those sunshine filled days we have a large south facing patio garden with plenty of comfy seating for people to come and sit, chat and relax. Our function room can cater for any occasion – weddings, baby showers or parties – we look forward to helping you put on an event to be remembered.

Christmas Day - Mains

Roast breast of Norfolk turkey, pigs in blankets, sage and onion stuffing with turkey gravy.

Roast Dorset topside beef, Yorkshire pudding and red wine gravy.

Mustard and maple glazed dorset gammon, spiced apple chutney (all the above are served with duck fat roast potatoes and seasonal veg)

Butternut squash, pine nut, sweet potato and golden raisin pathivier, crispy sage, vegetarian gravy and seasonal veg.

Pan fried fillet of salmon, celeriac 3 ways, wilted rainbow chard, preserved lemon, confit garlic and chervil dressing.
